The Garmin GPSMAP178C Sounder features a 3.2" H x 3.2" W (4.5" diagonal) brilliant sunlight-readable color LCD display. You will find that the interface is simple and easy to use. A built-in worldwide marine basemap is standard. Other maps can be added including MapSource BlueChart maps and MapSource Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots.

Notes about antennas and tranducers: The unit can be configured six different ways by choosing the appropriate option above. If you are going to mount the unit inside a compartment in your boat an external antenna will work the best. The 200 kHz single frequency transducer is designed for inland lakes and bays while the 50/200 kHz dual frequency transducer is for offshore boating where water depths are deeper.
